History
Built in 1917 for Harry Utter Hart who moved to Hamilton from the US when appointed Chief Engineer and VP of Westinghouse Canada Ltd.
Harry's daughter Evelyn Storms and her husband Dick who was the VP of Manufacturing Controls at Dofasco in 1960 lived in the home until her passing at age 90 in 2001.
It was then that current family purchased the home to raise their family and have meticulously renovated and restored the home to its original glory while preserving its original character and charm.
Things To Love in the Seller’s Words
grand mature trees forming a canopy over the street
love the tall ceilings and large windows throughout the house, tons of natural light, and love east facing in the back/kitchen and west facing in DR, best orientation
being in the core and close to so much at the same time having a peaceful oasis in my backyard and many indoor spaces to relax with a book and coffee/wine
excellent flow and space in the central hall plan to entertain- absolutely love entertaining in this home, especially a grand thanksgiving dinner in my dining room and of course backyard alfresco entertaining
christmas holidays were extra special, 3 real trees, mantel and stairway decorated with fresh garland, the house lends itself to magical holiday feel
all the wood trim, especially in LR, high baseboards, French doors and windows, pocket doors all add warmth and history and character; original windows add character and charm, and are always admired by visitors as are all the other interesting features and details
an abundance of storage space including a big cantina space with built in shelves
uniqueness of this house and all homes around me
interesting history that this house, at 114 years old, had only 1 owner prior to us!
countless beautiful memories
